Cecelia Holland's The King's Witch (New York: Berkley, ) is a historical novel set during the Third Crusade to take Jerusalem, around Edythe - a young Jewish woman pretending to be Christian - is dispatched by Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine to inform on her children, Richard the Lionheart and his sister Johanna/5.

The King's Witch is an entertaining and well written look at King James I's court, and his family relations, immediately after Queen Elizabeth I's death. I liked the vivid description of the anxieties and loyalties, or lack thereof, of a person navigating the new King's court, an environment marked by extreme and conflicting ideologies and behaviours.4/5.

Witch King is a cultivation harem novel featuring a headstrong protagonist, deadly enemies, explicit scenes of steamy good times, and buckets of crazy action. Pick up this brand new series from Nick Harrow, bestselling author of the Dungeon Bringer Series!4/5(38).

A "witch-king" also appears in Greek mythology, Aeëtes of Kolkhis, who more resembles the Witch-king of Angmar. The former, however, was more likely an inspiration for Tolkien, as he fancied and studied northern mythologies much more than Age: More than three millennia. The situation in 1 Samuel 28 is that Saul and David have been at odds for a long time, and David is rising in God’s favor to be the new king.

Saul is becoming increasingly disobedient and unacceptable as God’s king. Back in chap Saul disobeyed God and failed to destroy the Amalekites. This is a lovely little coming of age story but not in the way you might think. Febe is coming of age.

She has just turned 25 years old and on her birthday all sorts of things happen. She finds her fiance in the arms of her boss, she loses her job, she loses her apartment, and she finds out she is a witch/5(55). Tracy Borman's book conveys a sense of how fickle courtiers conspire to achieve their maximum advantage in the new court.

The reader is placed in the middle through France's eyes in an atmosphere of constant danger and intrigue. This new king is particularly ruthless, sending perceived enemies to the Tower, or worse much worse/5(). A witch is a woman in possession of power. To some, the witch is a figure to fear; to others, she’s one of empowerment.

She is the healer, the medicine woman, the bruja, the Mother, the crafty Instagrammer. There’s a reason there are so many books about witches, many more than the in this list.

An interesting witch mystery. I enjoyed this book. It was interesting to follow the main character as she discovered she was a witch and learned the rules of how to be a witch. I liked the characters in the book/5. She clearly knows her history.

Masterfully set in a tumultuous time with well-crafted characters, The King’s Witch is a wonderful first novel that is difficult to put aside.

Borman makes historical figures, such as the insecure King James and the intelligent, honorable Tom Wintour come to. She is the author of many highly acclaimed books, including The Private Lives of the Tudors, Thomas Cromwell: The Untold Story of Henry VIII’s Most Faithful Servant, Elizabeth’s Women, and a first work of fiction, The King’s Witch.

Borman is a regular broadcaster and public speaker. The Witch and the Vampire King by Anna Santos is the second book in the Immortal Love series.

At the beginning of this book, Jessica arrives on the doorstep of her friends Anna and Shane while being chased by a European Vampire Kings vampire soldier death squad who want the grimoire she took and her death/5. It’s unclear exactly when witches came on the historical scene, but one of the earliest records of a witch is in the Bible in the book of 1 Samuel, thought be written between B.C.
